December 21 was the longest night of the year (in the Northern hemisphere) and it was also the start of the dark moon. It is the time of celebration and reflection; a time to come to terms with your strengths and weaknesses and see what you must accept and what you can change. There is nothing wrong with darkness. It is a symbol of creation. It’s the womb; the subconscious mind. The deepest reaches of the Universe where interstellar matter coalesce into stars and planets. The Darkness is life. So, remember when you light your candles or holiday lights, that the Darkness is beautiful, just like you.

Winter Wishes

Everywhere I looked today, diamond dust, those sparkly particles that seem suspended in the air when the wind blows the snow drifts around, was so beautiful. As the sun started setting it went from diamond dust to gold dust. Even the most everyday and mundane can be filled with magic. Just have faith like a child. I had to shovel that wonderful powder off my car this morning so maybe some of the wonder wasn’t there…LOL…but I was surrounded by snow and drifts and all I could think about was how much fun I had as a kid playing in it, choosing to walk home from school so I could plop in every drift I could find. I long for that innocence again. So my winter wish is to always maintain a sense of wonder and find joy in the simplest of pleasures. Well, I’m gonna down my second cup of hot chocolate. Heaven and earth can pass away…just don’t take my chocolate. Hey…chocolate!…my wish just came true.
