December 21 was the longest night of the year (in the Northern hemisphere) and it was also the start of the dark moon. It is the time of celebration and reflection; a time to come to terms with your strengths and weaknesses and see what you must accept and what you can change. There is nothing wrong with darkness. It is a symbol of creation. It’s the womb; the subconscious mind. The deepest reaches of the Universe where interstellar matter coalesce into stars and planets. The Darkness is life. So, remember when you light your candles or holiday lights, that the Darkness is beautiful, just like you.
Been working on sigils for about a week now and let me say it ain’t easy. It actually requires you to have an imagination and think outside the box when making the designs. I have already created one and it’s actually working. I need to be more specific in the future as the “wish” I made wasn’t dead one and while I’m getting results they’re half ass. But, you get what you ask the Universe and if your wishy-washy then you get wishy-washy. Below are a few of pictures of one a made a few days ago.
I purchased a lighter to burn my sigils to “release” them and let the magic do its thing.
My creative process
Ta da! The finished sigil!
Even though there are other ways of making a sigil, I don’t believe there are hard and fast rules to the whole creation process. I am sure most have read Practical Sigil Magic by Frater U.D. and maybe some other texts and it’s actually fun. I enjoy putting my magical mind to use and seeing my will fulfilled. Now, the “forgetting” part of the ritual is proving difficult as everything I’m doing is considered urgent and therefore I’m stressing over it. But, I have to let it go and trust the Universe will provide what I need when I need it. The best way for me is to create fun sigils in between my “major” ones. It also gives me opportunity to get better with my imagination and creative process.
We could all use a little magic in our lives, especially during these dark days of autumn. In this post I’ll describe one simple (and fun!) way to do a magical working that can help make a wish come true.
If fulfilling your wish will not overtax the universe, you can sometimes bring about such a “deliberate coincidence” by an act of will. Some believe that magic derives its power from the principle that every compelling thought or desire creates a corresponding, semi-sentient energy form on the astral plane. This astral energy form, a form of your will, can then manifest on the material plane.
As aids to manifestation, sigils are “glyph[s] of desire stylized so as not to immediately suggest the desire.”*
Sigil magic is composed of 3 steps:
1. Making the sigil
2. Charging the sigil
3. Forgetting the sigil
